We are a specialty organization founded in 1980 to promote and encourage a high standard of excellence in orthodontic treatment and education. We are recognized internationally as an affiliate society of the World Federation of Orthodontists and a charter member of the Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society (APOS). The Association of Philippine Orthodontists was officially awarded the Certificate of Accreditation by the Philippine Board of Dentistry and was duly recognized as the official specialty society for Orthodontics in the country on January 26, 2011. Team Lecture: Orthodontic-Orthognathic Surgery

The 7th APO General Meeting held at Palm Grove, The Rockwell Club in Makati City last February 1, 2012 was the first meeting for the year 2012. The venue was packed with APO members and there was a big group of students from CEU in attendance. Everyone was enthusiastic to hear the lecture of the team from Our Lady Of Peace Craniofacial Center, comprised of oral and maxillofacial surgeons Drs. Glenda de Villa and Xenia Velmonte, plastic reconstructive surgeon Dr. Bernard Tansipek and our very own APO members Drs. Janet Pandan and Cecile Tuano- Cabrera. Through their lecture we see the importance of working as a team to address the problem of patients with cleft of the lips, palate and those with facial deformities.

APO’s 6th Biennial Regional Orthodontic Congress at the Tagaytay Highlands

The 6th Biennial Regional Orthodontic Congress of the Association of Philippine Orthodontists was held in the picturesque Tagaytay Highlands last August 8 and 9, 2011. APO President Dr. Robert Tan welcomed all the congress participants, thanking all the sponsors and trade dealers who generously helped APO in this endeavor. He then singled out each of the foreign guests who came to actively participate and support this APO event. They include Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society (APOS) President Dr. Woh Kai Loh, his wife Mrs. Lynden Loh, World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO) executive committee member and President of the Thailand Association of Orthodontists Dr. Somchai Satravaha, APOS secretary general Dr. Tanan Jaruprakorn, APOS executive committee member and Singaporean orthodontist Dr. Bryce Lee, APOS executive committee member and Indian Orthodontic Society President Dr. N. K. Abuja, President of the Taiwan Association of Orthodontists (TAO) Dr. Wei-Hung Hsu, TAO Secretary general Dr. Erh-Hui Tsai, TAO member Dr. William Choi, Ormco regional manager Mr. Bruce Arnold who was instrumental in bringing over our guest speaker for the day, Dr. Geoffrey Hall.

The Association of Philippine Orthodontists held its 3rd General meeting and Scientific Seminar last June 1, 2011 at Palm Groove, Rockwell Club Makati City. The program started with the invocation led by Dr. Chrysoine Marquez. The Welcome Remarks was given by the APO President, Dr. Roberto Tan. He presented the different activities of APO both locally and internationally wherein the most recent one was at the American Association of Orthodontists Annual Convention in Chicago. Dr. Tan also discussed the forthcoming 6th Biennial Regional Congress on August 8-9, 2011 in Tagaytay Highlands. This was followed by the discussion of Dr. Robert Eustaquio on matters regarding Philippine Board of Orthodontics.
